At WP Engine, we power digital experiences for over 80,000 customers around the world. In order to do so, we establish strategic partnerships to help maximize our global reach. That’s why we’ve built relationships with trusted brands like Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver agility, performance, intelligence, and integrations at scale.

As our customer base grows, we add data centers all over the world. Opening new data center regions extends WP Engine’s cloud coverage around the globe and enables enterprise-grade performance for customers of all sizes, from those on a Personal plan all the way up to custom Enterprise plans. Our latest additions have been in Montreal, Canada, and Tokyo, Japan.

Selecting the right data center definitely matters. Google Cloud Platform testing shows up to 95% reduction in round-trip time latency for customers in Australian cities serving visitors from the Sydney data center, compared to data centers in Taiwan. Customers in London, Dublin, and Edinburgh are seeing up to 82% reduction in latency by switching from a Belgium-based data center to London. This level of performance improvement resulting from running workloads through the closest data center region has a significant impact on site visitor experience and can improve SEO and conversion rates through faster load times. Check to see which data center will be best for you before signing up for your WP Engine plan.

The expanded data center availability through two leading cloud infrastructure brands GCP and AWS enables WP Engine customers to run their WordPress sites and applications, and store data within the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, Germany, Ireland, Belgium, Taiwan, and Japan. This offers our customers more options to reduce latency for domestic site visitors and more control over the location in which their data is stored and processed. With PHP 7 support available for these data centers, customers are armed with greater potential to optimize their site performance on the WP Engine platform.

Performance, security, compliance, and data protection are top of mind for all of us. Google Cloud Platform and AWS are committed to helping customers maintain third-party certification accreditation including ISO 27017 (cloud security), ISO 27018 (cloud privacy), and SOC 1, SOC 2, and SOC 3 (internal controls documentation).

With a heightened bar on data protection controls and the greater need to continuously deliver on agility, performance, and incredible experiences online, we look forward to continuing to expand our data centers and platform solutions for our worldwide customers in the coming year.
