Don’t get me wrong here, I use Genesis, but why are all the themes so bland looking? Why are WooCommerce themes sorely lacking in availability? Can you please make a theme that has every Genesis widget area already built in? Can you add some WooCommerce themes that are made specifically for ecommerce? Why is this type so small I can barely read it? How about a easy to use, easy to customize mega menu? The standard mega menu is like driving a model T, and aftermarket menus generally just add way to much bloat, and don’t work very well with Genesis. The amount of time I have to spend customizing a Genesis theme is starting to wear on me. I’m sure my clients would love to have faster service, and I’d much enjoy an easier to customize / setup theme to start with. Oh, and how about a real color selector, that covers more areas? Something like Design Palette Pro? When comparing the features of say, OceanWP, Genesis is sorely lacking. I prefer to use Genesis, but for sometime now, clients want much more than what you offer, so I’ve had to branch out to themes like OceanWP, Astra, etc… Not to mention the price, generally $100.00 or more for Genesis and child theme vs $50.00 for others.

There are also Woo powered Genesis themes provided by 9 Seeds, SEO Themes, and several other Genesis theme providers in the ecosystem.

Most Genesis users report that it actually speeds up their workflow. I’d love to have a deeper discussion to figure out exactly why it’s slowing you down.

We are exploring the use of the Customizer in the StudioPress themes and Genesis itself which may address your needs here. The future of the customizer itself is in question though, so we may also address broader color selections in other ways. That being said Design Palette Pro works great with Genesis. Additionally, Genesis will soon be including options to help to set color selection options for Gutenberg blocks which should make things generally much easier for you and your clients.

We’re busy working on new features that may address what your clients are looking for, but I’d have to learn more to specifically comment. As for the price, Genesis and the StudioPress themes are free with your WP Engine account including for sites you build for your customers. I really like using the Genesis Framework and mostly develop child themes from scratch but I did use Daily Dish Pro when I wanted to put together an idea for showing baking videos from YouTube. I like the fact that Genesis doesn’t provide hundreds of theme options like many other themes do. It provides a simple layer to build on rather than trying to remove complex settings that don’t always work. Genesis is also great for SEO as it provides the necessary basic meta description fields that are missing from the WordPress core. I do host a number of websites on WP Engine and am very pleased that Studio Press / Genesis is now available to WP Engine customers as I always thought Genesis was the best of the bunch when it came to Frameworks.
