WooCommerce beat out Wordfence Security to advance, while Advanced Custom Fields took down The Events Calendar.

Two of the most powerful WordPress plugins – Jetpack and Yoast SEO — met defeat in Torque Plugin Madness round 4, failing to advance to the semi-finals. Yoast SEO fell to Advanced Custom Fields, while The Events Calendar edged out Jetpack.

That leaves just two matchups as the tournament enters the semi-finals today. Here is the Phenomenal 4:

In one of the closest matchups we’ve seen so far, stalwart WP Smush edged out mighty MailChimp to advance to Round 3 of Torque Plugin Madness as the tournament field was whittled down to the Supreme 16.

In other close matches, Clef Two-Factor Authentication’s late rally wasn’t enough to stave off Akismet, which took the victory in that high-profile matchup.

The Torque Plugin Madness tournament field has been narrowed to 32, and there are some surprising WordPress plugins that didn’t make the cut.

In a shocking upset, Hello Dolly stalled out in the first round and didn’t advance, along with other big names like Google Analytics by Yoast, Contact Form 7, Google Analytics, and Contact Form DB.

Torque Plugin Madness is the online competition that pits plugin against plugin in a bracket-style tournament to determine which WordPress plugin is best!

Voting for Round 2, lovingly dubbed the Thrilling 32, is now open. There are some exciting matchups, here are some highlights:
