WordPress Wins Big at The Webby Awards 

This week, the 27th annual Webby Awards were presented in front of a live audience at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. 

The star-studded event, which recognizes excellence in web design and development, has been dubbed “the Internet’s highest honor,” and some of this year’s most impressive entries were built by the dedicated developers and agencies that make WordPress their CMS of choice. 

Presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), Webby Awards are bestowed across a variety of categories, with 2023’s slate of winners falling into one of the following: Websites and Mobile Sites; Video; Advertising, Media, and PR; Apps and Software; Social; Podcasts; Games; Virtual and Remote; and Special Achievement. 

In addition to those overarching categories, the Webbys also honors digital projects from dozens of subgroups as well as a few special honors voted on by the wider community through The Webby People’s Voice Award. 

Overall, more than 300 projects were nominated for awards ranging from Best Community Engagement to Best Game Design to Best Live Podcast Recording to Best Photography and Design and more.

As in years past, the list of Webbys winners was unveiled in the weeks leading up to the live event, and while this year’s winning projects represent a wide array of platforms and technologies, WordPress winners and nominees can be found across a variety of award categories.

In an effort to further elevate these projects, WP Engine and The Webby Awards collaborated closely for the fourth year in a row to present Crafted with Code, a showcase that dives into the inspiration and untold stories behind a select few Webby-recognized websites.

Give a Grad a Go

Give a Grad a Go is an employment and recruitment agency based in the UK that connects recent graduates to early career opportunities within their fields. They can now add “Webby Awards People’s Voice Winner” to their site, which was built by Plug & Play design agency.

RCA Records

RCA Records is a titan of the music industry, working with artists from Doja Cat to David Bowie. The organization worked with Josephmark Studio to enhance the digital experiences of their visitors, and in doing so, earned a Webby Award for Best User Interface.

AI Model

As AI continues to impact the way we create, agency experts at Overa used their skills to create this unique new experience for retailers in search of models for their products. Now, retailers who use AI Model can create the perfect model for their brand or item The site won a Webby for General Websites and Mobile Sites in the Fashion and Beauty category.

End the Backlog

Another People’s Voice Winner, End the Backlog is a site that tracks the progress of all 50 states as they work toward comprehensive rape kit reform and urge leaders to test all untested kits in the backlog. Created in partnership with the Joyful Heart Foundation, the creators hope the site redesign sheds light on this often overlooked aspect of criminal justice reform.
