WP Engine has been recognized as no. 8 on the list of 25 Highest Rated Private Cloud Computing Companies To Work For by Battery Ventures. The global investment firm and cloud investor used data, regarding how companies have handled issues like remote work amid the broader economic downturn, specifically provided by Glassdoor to establish its rankings.

The recognition is a testament to WP Engine’s employee and cultural resilience, reporting high levels of satisfaction at work, despite challenging conditions as a result of the pandemic.

WP Engine’s overall rating is 4.6 on Glassdoor, where the broader average across the site is 3.5. Additionally, WP Engine’s senior-leadership rating on Glassdoor is 4.7, compared to an average of 3.2, while its positive business-outlook rating (which indicates the percentage of employees who believe their employer’s business will get better in the next six months) is 92%, compared to the Glassdoor average of 51%.

“We are incredibly honored and humbled to be included on the Battery Ventures list,” said Heather Brunner, CEO and Chairwoman at WP Engine. “This list includes some of the best and brightest companies in the tech industry. Our inclusion is a testament to our global team living our core values every day, in everything we do. These core values are the foundation of WP Engine and have helped us build a lasting legacy of striving to Do the Right Thing for our employees and customers.”

While WP Engine has focused internally on keeping employees connected and set-up for remote success during the pandemic, its employees have taken it upon themselves to step up during this challenging time and give back to the communities where they live and work.

As part of WP Engine’s corporate social responsibility program, Engine for Good, employees have given generously to more than 20 causes providing Covid relief or addressing social injustice. Embodying the core value, “Committed to Give Back.” employees and WP Engine have donated more than $265,000 globally to organizations like Black Girls Code, Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), and Rize Up.

This commitment to values, having a strong and unique company culture; promoting transparency; regular and clear communication with employees; and working for mission-driven companies is commonly mentioned in high ratings on Glassdoor.

For instance, according to one anonymous employee review of WP Engine on Glassdoor:

“Best company I’ve ever worked for. Incredible leadership team including the best CEO in the business. Huge market opportunity and the market leader. Great benefits, transparent and amazing coworkers. A company that really cares about its people and the culture.”

The rankings also highlight the potential links between positive company culture and overall corporate performance and growth, according to Neeraj Agrawal, a Battery general partner who specializes in cloud investing. This year, 10 of the top 25 private companies announced financing rounds during the pandemic worth more than $1.9 billion combined, according to Crunchbase.

“Cloud CEOs have had to stay unbelievably focused, resilient, and nimble over the last eight months, working in conditions they likely never expected,” Agrawal said.

“The best CEOs are listening to employees and making tough decisions that will continue to move their companies forward. We’re heartened that so many of these B2B companies are surviving and even thriving during Covid, as they’re providing technologies to serve the new, pandemic workforce, as well as solutions that are digitizing customer businesses faster than ever. Every company that made the list this year should view it as an honor to be included.”
