Gartner has recognized WP Engine in its 2018 Magic Quadrant for Web Content Managementthe first time the company has appeared in this assessment.

Gartner breaks the definition of Web Content Management* (WCM) into four core components: (1) controlling content, (2) across one or more digital channels, (3) using specific management solutions, (4) based on a core repository. So WCM solutions encompass far more than the simple publication of web pages.

The WCM industry is quickly evolving in response to the imperatives of customer experience strategies, which include digital transformation and continuous optimization using, for example, AI. While WCM remains at the heart of the technology stacks that support customer experience initiatives, native WCM capabilities are expanding beyond their traditional boundaries, and integrations with adjacent technologies are driving expansion into the area of DXPs. According to Gartner, WCM is more important than ever for digital transformation and optimization, so there is increasing pressure for businesses of all kinds to “get it right.”

Three forces are fueling this evolution of WCM. They arise from:

  • The path to digital business that many organizations are taking, and from what they are struggling with.
  • The need for better interoperability, flexibility and integration—attributes that directly influence the success of digital business.
  • The requirement for better and more practical AI-driven content management capabilities, as these can quickly lead to measurable business results.

The combination of these forces is providing an opportunity for WP Engine’s WordPress Digital Experience Platform, which gives companies of all sizes the agility, performance, intelligence and integrations they need to drive their business forward faster. WP Engine is meeting this market opportunity through a combination of tech innovation and its award-winning team of WordPress experts. Today, more than 80,000 companies across 135 countries rely on and trust WP Engine to help them with world-class digital experiences.

“Appearing in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for WCM is a wonderful recognition of our customers’ success using our platform,” said WP Engine CEO Heather Brunner. “It’s a testament to how they’re using WP Engine to move their businesses forward faster.”

“Our placement in the Magic Quadrant is also a validation of the fact that we continue to be the digital experience platform of choice for a growing number of mid-size and enterprise organizations as they look for a partner to help them win online, with WordPress.”

Gartner’s IT industry analysts conducted research for the Magic Quadrant and evaluated WCM providers based on their completeness of vision and ability to execute.
