Over the last few years, WP Engine has seen massive growth on a global scale. We’ve expanded our list of customers, launched new products, and grown our employee count by nearly 50%.

Fostering a great workplace for all of our employees at WP Engine is one of our key strategic pillars and one that remains top of mind as we continue to grow in a digital-first world.

We believe that by creating an open, accepting workplace, infused with a strong culture that promotes transparency and trust, our employees can grow to new heights and do their best work while remaining inspired and driven in their careers.

That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that WP Engine has been selected as a Best Workplace for Wellness in the UK.

Great Place to Work, the global authority on workplace culture, has affirmed WP Engine’s commitment to being a workplace of choice numerous times since 2017. This is the first time we’ve been honored as a Best Workplace for  Wellness.

Great Place to Work is third-party validation that helps us acquire t an unbiased understanding of how our employees feel at work, and it’s a testament to our thriving workplace culture for potential employees.

To become certified, members of our UK team responded to Great Place to Work’s research-backed Trust Index survey, which gauges the level of trust employees experience in their leaders, the level of pride they have in their jobs, and the extent to which they enjoy working alongside their colleagues.

In today’s complicated working world, wellness means more than just a great insurance plan. Wellness encompasses both physical and mental health, and in the workplace, it translates into the way employees are feeling day-to-day, inside and outside of work.

At WP Engine we want every employee to feel that they can be themselves every day, and we want to ensure that they have the ability to practice healthy habits in service of their overall wellness.

I believe wellness is important because bringing our best to work (and the world) and helping others do the same, requires that we first focus on our own well-being.  We can’t effectively help others if wellness is not a priority in our own lives.

Keith Fafel, VP, Product

Here’s a list of just a few things we do at WP Engine to help support our teams and their individual wellness:

  • We provide employees with quarterly wellness days, days off for employees to recharge.
  • Each employee can be reimbursed for wellness activities like gym memberships, dinner, or even video games—up to $100 a month.
  • In 2021 we made the choice to be a “Remote First” company, meaning employees can work remotely or in one of our office hubs around the globe.
  • Every employee recieves a  subscription to Calm (a popular wellness app).
  • Employees have access to an on-demand wellness platform for fitness/wellness coaching.
  • Employees also receive access to self-learning platforms such as O’Reilly and LinkedIn Learning.

At WP Engine, we’re committed to fostering a company culture that reflects our Core Values and is welcoming and inclusive for all. Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are an integral part of that effort.

In addition to providing community and representation to the many lived experiences of our employees, these groups work continuously to offer impactful and inspiring programming that brings education and awareness to all.

Most recently, WP Engine’s Rise  ERG  held a series of events focused on Black health and wellness to coincide with Black History Month in the U.S.. Other ERGs include Roar (Advocating for Women), Hue (LGBTQ+), Flourish (mental health and neurodiversity), Refresh (environment), and Branch (caregivers).

I believe wellness is important because when these dimensions are in harmony then you live a joyful, purpose-driven life. In harmony is very subjective and personal!  It is different for each of us; shaped by the unique context of living, doing life!
