This 120-strong team in Limerick is responsible for helping major brands and small businesses win on WordPress, the open source ecosystem underpinning the web. An incredible 43% of all websites today are currently powered by WordPress, which means the web does truly flow through Limerick!

WP Engine Ireland has doubled its customers from over 3,000 three years ago to now more than 8,000. And we’re only getting started!  WP Engine’s brilliant team in Limerick is currently hiring for a range of development roles including Lead Software Engineers, Senior DevOps Engineer, and Product Designers.

“We’re so proud of today’s Limerick office opening and this opportunity to celebrate the successes of the talented team here,” said Paul Ryan, Senior Director and Site Lead at WP Engine. “They’re putting Limerick and Ireland at large on the map for the global tech industry, bringing in new investment, job growth, and shaping the future of the web.”

An Office Fit for the Future of Work

WP Engine built the new Limerick office around the needs of the team that will work there. To support our working culture, we created several employee breakouts and lounge areas, including the provision of complimentary food and drinks.

We also have a lounge that acts as a multi-purpose space, with low and high tables, a functioning breakfast bar, and sofas. These collaborative spaces mean employees can get what they want out of the office, and are able to cater to the ways they work best through access to different spaces and environments all under one roof.

WP Engine’s new Limerick office is built to support our working culture, with breakouts and lounge areas to provide employees with plenty of collaborative space.

A symbol of openness and innovation, we removed the opaque treatment on the glass windows, which also have minimal branding, allowing the outside public to look inside and get a sense of what it’s like to work at WP Engine. It also means our employees can continue to feel integrated into the wider Limerick community.

Flexible working is the future of work. We believe that to make the most out of the working day, employees need to be encouraged to work in whatever way suits them best. We’re proud to encourage flexible work and we want people to walk past our office, look inside, and recognize that we are committed to building the best experiences for our employees here in Ireland. It’s no coincidence that WP Engine Ireland this year was recognized as a Great Place to Work for the fourth time.

“We’re hopeful that the success of our brilliant team in Limerick inspires the wider global tech sector to follow our lead and build a better future of work for its employees,” said Heather Brunner, Chairwoman and CEO at WP Engine. “We are also grateful to industry and government leaders in Ireland who continue to nurture local tech talent, and have warmly welcomed us as invaluable partners at every step of our journey in Limerick.”

Tánaiste & Minister for Enterprise Trade & Employment Leo Varadkar offered his well-wishes on the Henry Street opening, saying, “Congratulations to WP Engine on this really welcome news, opening a new office in Limerick City.”

“These new jobs are a fantastic addition to what is a vibrant and growing technology sector in the area. I’m particularly pleased to see flexible working being offered, it’s a big priority for government. WP Engine is on an impressive trajectory, with significant growth in both customers and staff since establishing in Ireland in 2016. I wish the team every continued success with this new chapter.”

Echoing Varadkar, Mary Buckley, Executive Director, IDA Ireland said, “Since WP Engine first landed in Limerick in 2016, it has grown from strength to strength and is a welcome addition to the region’s established Technology cluster. Winning jobs and investment for regional locations remains central to IDA Ireland’s mission.  I wish all at WP Engine continued success.”
