Want to see how many files are uploaded to WordPress sites each second? How about after a day? Or after a month? How does that compare to other stats from around the web, like tweets, Google searches, or Wikipedia views? Check out this infographic for a live, by-the-numbers look at how rapidly WordPress is taking over the web.

Awesome!
How do some of these numbers get computed? Like the social media for instance…based on a #Wordpress hashtag?
Thank you,
Jose
Hi Jose,
The data comes from a number of sources. Many of the stats come from the last State of the Word address. We took the yearly growth number and calculated the per second growth rate for many data points.

So what you’re saying is that WordPress is the Internet.
*The Entire Internet.
WordPress is starting to become the Windows XP of the Internet. It works great, there are loads of extensions for it but it’s ubiquity is making it a target.
WordPress can certainly be a secure system but the burden exists on website owners and designers to ensure they are looking after the security of the installation and keeping the site & all plugins up to date.
It’s great to see the growth though and it gets ever harder to recommend platforms like Drupal and Joomla as the months and years go by.
WOW amazing, I’m blown away, this is impressive. It must be among the coolest infographic this year.
We all know the stats regarding WordPress, but to see it live, is a very different thing. No need to worry about the future of our cms.
Thanks!
“We took the yearly growth number and calculated the per second growth rate for many data points.”
So it’s not live. That’s quite misleading.
