WP Engine: 2018 in Review
We are inspired by the digital visions and aspirations of our customers and are committed to helping them win online. As 2018 has just come to a close, we look back on our growth with pride and humility. We are devoted to the success and prosperity of our 90,000+ customers from 140 different countries in 2019.
We love our platform’s ability to scale for any digital experience you can imagine. We scaled internally as well to make sure we were ready for anything. We’ve hired 130 new people globally to join our mission in helping our customers win online—enough to fill a 737 airplane! WP Engine is kicking off 2019 with more than 600 people in 6 different offices worldwide.
New year, new you, did you say? Well, that was our reality in 2018 as we rolled out some of our favorite new platform additions. We took the lead on the Amazon Polly plugin, the first plugin to bring voice technology to WordPress. The WP Engine Digital Experience Platform continued to evolve and improve in 2018. We’ve helped developers expedite their workflow through more efficient site management with SSH Gateway. Speaking of workflows, three environments per site (development-staging-production) help keep yours structured and risk-free. Finally, we’ve added additional data centers in Canada and Japan for stronger global performance.
We know a top-of-the-line tech stack is the key to success, security, and relevancy. That’s why we’ve partnered with Cloudflare to deliver Global Edge Security. Additionally, WP Engine customers can utilize PHP 7.2, via PHP Test Drive and PHP Selector ensuring that their WordPress sites are performing optimally and security is enhanced. Looks like all of you were as excited as we were about our acquisition of StudioPress and Genesis! The June 27 announcement was our most liked social post of 2018.
WP Engine gained nine talented team members from StudioPress’ team, and our customers gained access to 38 premium WordPress themes built with the Genesis Framework, WordPress’ most popular theme framework.
